Under the leadership and sponsorship of the Tashkent city administration, a presentation was held for the book “Explanatory Dictionary of Place Names of Tashkent City,” which scientifically compiles historical and modern place names within our capital.

🔵 During the presentation, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Omonullo Bo‘riyev, Doctor of Historical Sciences Khayriya Bo‘riyeva, as well as other participants, delivered speeches on the scientific and practical significance of this publication, its role in the field of toponymy, and its importance for the systematic study of place names in the capital.

This explanatory dictionary reflects both the rich historical heritage and the modern image of Tashkent. It consists of two sections — “Historical Tashkent” and “Modern Tashkent.” The book provides scholarly and popular interpretations of the names of such places as canals and waterways, city districts and gates, administrative districts, mahallas, metro stations, cemeteries, and pilgrimage sites.
