Bus Stop on the Great Silk Road: From a Disordered Waiting Area to Comfortable Infrastructure for Passengers
The video clearly shows what the territory of this bus stop looked like before.
In reality, this place was not a full-fledged bus stop for passengers earlier, but an area occupied by a commercial facility. People were forced to wait for the bus right around this object. The waiting area was narrow and inconvenient. Due to the absence of a dedicated “A” lane, buses could not approach the stop closely: passenger cars occupied the edge of the roadway and interfered with the process of boarding and alighting passengers.
This stop is one of the important points for public transport. Seven microbus routes and more than 10 bus routes operate from here. In addition, other vehicles traveling in the direction of Tashkent region also use this area. Every day, a significant passenger flow forms at the stop — more than 6,000 residents and guests of the capital use it.
Today, a dedicated “A” category lane has been organized on Buyuk Ipak yo‘li Street. This contributes to more stable movement of buses and their unimpeded approach to the stop.
In place of the old stop area, previously occupied by a commercial facility and causing inconvenience to passengers, two modern bus stop structures have been built. The stop area has been expanded. The large area of the renovated stop can accommodate more than 120 passengers at a time and reduces crowding of people on the edge of the roadway.
Special attention was paid to the safety of passengers boarding and alighting buses. Modern platforms leveled with the height of bus doors have been installed here. Now passengers do not need to step onto the roadway to board the bus or walk around stopped cars.
In addition, new paving tiles were laid in the area, elements for the convenience of people with disabilities were provided, and a more comfortable environment for waiting for public transport was created.
It should be noted that these bus stop complexes will be gradually equipped with modern services and technological solutions.
The main goal of these changes is to restore the original function of the stop: it should not be a trading point, parking lot, or obstacle to bus traffic, but a convenient and safe place for passengers.
A modern bus stop means safe boarding and alighting, a comfortable waiting area, priority for public transport, and attention to passengers.
