The First “Sport” Bus Stop Has Appeared in Tashkent

A workout area has been organized at the bus stop located near the car market in Sergeli district, where 12 bus routes pass.

At the initiative of the Traffic Management Center, the bus stop area has been equipped with elements designed for short-term physical exercises. This approach reflects that urban infrastructure is being created not only for movement, but also for the convenience, health, and daily well-being of the population.

Now passengers can use the time waiting for the bus for light exercises, pull-ups, or simple physical activities. This brings sports closer to everyday city commuting — on the way to work, study, or home.

Such solutions can also be found in other cities: in Seoul, Beijing, Singapore, Paris, Bogota, and Cali, bus pavilions have been turned into small activity zones equipped with bars, stairs, and other sports equipment. Their idea is simple — movement can become a natural part of daily life.

For Tashkent, such a stop is another step towards creating a more comfortable environment around public transport. Giving priority to buses means not only routes, lanes, and upgraded stop complexes, but also improving the quality of the waiting process: safety, comfort, openness, and additional opportunities for the population.

Such facilities are installed at specific locations — primarily in densely populated areas, at stops with a dense network of routes, and in places where there is enough space to safely separate waiting and activity zones.

The main requirements are safety, convenience for passengers, durable structures, regular maintenance, and no interference with public transport and pedestrian traffic.

It is worth noting that giving priority to public transport is one of the main tasks of the capital’s hokimiyat, and this work includes not only new routes and lanes, but also a number of additional measures.

We are open to residents’ suggestions and are ready to consider new locations where such workout stops would truly be useful and necessary, as well as their equipment options. If you know locations with high passenger traffic and sufficient space for safe placement of such an area, send your suggestions to the @codd_tashkent_bot Telegram bot.
