"Explanatory Dictionary of Toponyms of Tashkent City" Published Online

We remind you that at the end of 2025, a presentation of the book "Explanatory Dictionary of Toponyms of Tashkent City" was held, in which historical and modern place names on the territory of our capital were collected on a scientific basis.

This explanatory dictionary reflects the rich historical heritage of Tashkent and its modern appearance and consists of two parts — "Historical Tashkent" and "Modern Tashkent". It provides scientific and folk interpretations of place names, including aryks and canals, dahas and gates, districts, mahallas, metro stations, cemeteries, and shrines (places of pilgrimage).

We inform you that the "Explanatory Dictionary of Toponyms of Tashkent City" has been posted online for download for anyone interested; the book in PDF format can be downloaded via the link.

After the book is translated into Russian and English, they will also be published online.
