The Baland Mosque was built in 1857. "Baland" means
"high," and the mosque received its name from the minaret built at
the same time as the entrance portal.
The mosque is located on Beshagach Street, where a tram once ran.
In the early 21st century, a modern mosque was built over the mosque,
completely enclosing the old mosque within the new one.
In 2024, the former new mosque was dismantled and a larger structure was
constructed, thus once again enclosing the old mosque within the new one.
